Noelle Joy - 15in Crochet Blanket (granny square)

I decided to change it up a bit with this one and make a granny square :)

Materials
4ply yarn
H hook
Scissors
Yarn needle

Pattern Abbreviations
ch = chain
sk = skip
sc = single crochet
dc = double crochet
hdc = half double crochet
sl st = slip stitch



PATTERN (worked in rounds)
Special Stitch
DC CLUSTER – (DC-CL) hold back last loop of each stitch on hook, dc the number indicated in same stitch, then yarn over and pull through all loops.


With Color A Chain 6, sl st to 1st ch to form ring

Round 1
Ch 2, 2 DC-CL in ring, *ch 4, 3 DC-CL in ring, ch 2, 3 DC-CL in ring* repeat 3 times total, ch 4, 3 DC-CL in ring, ch 2, sl st to 2 DC-CL End Color A

Round 2
Attach Color B with sl st in same place you sl st to end previous round. Ch 5, *3 DC-CL, ch 2, 3 DC-CL in ch 4 space, ch 2, 3 dc in next ch 2 space, ch 2 repeat from * repeat 3 times total. 3 DC-CL, ch 2, 3 DC-CL in ch4 space, ch 2, 2 dc in last ch2 space, sl st to 3rd ch of start ch 5

Round 3
Ch 3, *2dc in next ch 2 space, ch 2, 3 DC-CL, ch 2, 3 DC-CL in the next ch 2 space, ch 2, 2dc in next ch 2 space, dc in next 3 dc, repeat from * around sl st to top of ch 3. End Color B

Round 4
Attach Color A with sl st in same place you sl st to end previous round. Ch 3, *dc in next 2 dc, 2 dc in next ch 2 space, ch 2, 3 DC-CL, ch 2, 3 DC-CL in next ch 2 space, ch 2, 2 dc in next ch 2, dc in next 5 dc, repeat from * around, slip stitch to top of start 3 chain.

Round 5
Ch 3, *DC in each of the DC to ch space, 2 dc in ch 2 space, ch 2, 3 DC-CL, ch 2, 3 DC-CL in next ch 2 space, ch 2, 2 dc in next ch 2 space, repeat from * around, dc in each dc to start, sl st to start ch 3. End Color A

Round 6 and 7
Repeat Round 5 with Color B

Round 8 and 9
Repeat Round 5 with Color A

Round 10 and 11
Repeat Round 5 with Color B
BORDER
 
Round 1
Color A: Ch 1, sc around edge, 2 sc in each ch 2 spaces and 3 sc in corners 

Round 2
Color A: Ch 1, sc around edge putting 3 sc in each corner stitch (second sc in 3 sc group)

Round 3
Color B: attach with slip stitch, ch 1, sc in each st around, 2 sc in second stitch of the 3 sc groups in corners.
Finish blanket by weaving in ends
 
 
Here's a few other versions created while testing :) 
 
This one was made by Danita. She added a variegated yarn instead of a solid, such a simple change but it can really change the look of the blanket!
This one was made with lots of color changes. I was trying to branch out of my normal color pallet and mixed some teal in with the pink :)
