JoAnna's Blanket -- 15in Crochet Blanket

Here's another blanket from the 15 inch blanket project :) This one came out a little bigger (more like 16 - 17 inches)

This pattern is sweet for a little girl but I think if you altered the border to just be a DC all the way around it might be nice for a little boy as well :)

Materials
4ply yarn
H hook
Scissors
Yarn needle


Pattern Abbreviations
ch = chain
sk = skip
sc = single crochet
dc = double crochet
hdc = half double crochet
sl st = slip stitch


PATTERN
Chain 47
Row 1
(pink)
Dc in 4th ch from hook, dc in next 4 ch, * sk1, 3 dc in next ch, sk 1, 1 dc in next 5 ch, repeat from * across row, ch 3 turn

Row 2
(pink)
Sk 1 dc, dc in next 4 dc, * sk 1, 3 dc in next dc, sk 1, 1 dc in next 5 st repeat from * across row, chain 3 turn

Row 3 -24
Repeat row 2 following color pattern:

Row 3 Pink
Row 4-5 Grey
Row 6 White
Row 7-8 Grey
Row 9-16 Pink 
Row 17 - 18 Grey
Row 19 White
Row 20-21 Grey
Row 22-24 Pink





BORDER (worked in rounds)

Round 1
(grey)
Hdc in each stitch around edge of blanket evenly, you might want to put 2hdc in some of the ch3 along edge, 3 hdc in each corner.

Round 2
(pink)
Sl st into any corner stich, chain 3, 3dc in same stitch, *sk 2, sl st, sk 2 5dc in same stitch, *repeat from * around entire blanket. CORNERS, it's best if lines up for the 5dc in each corner but it might not, you can also put 2dc in 3-4 stitches going  around corner or only sk 1 space before and after sl st, etc.

Finish blanket by weaving in ends

This one I just messed with the row colors some.
I did have to add an extra row to make the colors even.

Danita did this lovely example, uses the same row color changes as listed in the pattern just done with a variegated and two solids.
