Donation to two special babies

On my IC support forum a set of twins were born at 25 weeks and 2 days. They inspired me to send their mother a blanket and hat set for each of them.

For the little girl Gabrielle Addison I already had a blanket, the special white one with pink trim that I loved the moment I made it, I'm happy it's going to have a good home. I remade the bonnet to match it and then made a blue blanket for her brother Jerome Edward.

Jerome Edward

Both of these little ones were born weighing 1lb 10oz. The family is asking for prayers to help them through what will be a long struggle in the NICU.

Larger Baby Set

This set is for closer to a full term little one, perhaps a *little* bit smaller, but not much. The booties would be the only problem item...but they are kind of stretchy. The blanket is the first blanket I ever made, and I was going to keep it, but now I have so many ideas for OTHER blankets in my head, that really there isn't a point. I will I am sure make larger blankets for my future little ones, so this one should go to another mommy.

3 hour set :)

This took about 3 hours to do :) Maybe a little longer, but really just an afternoon. The blanket was about a movie's length. I was watching "Raising Helen" while making it. This doll is slightly bigger than Molly. Her name is going to be Sabrina :) Don't know why. She's bigger than a 24 weeker but smaller than a 30 so lets call her a 27. I made this with one skein of Baby Cloud yarn by Red Heart, it used a whole skein. If you would like the patter see below.

Pattern for the blanket:
crochet hook: 10.mm
chain 30
sc in second chain from hook and sc across row, ch 1 turn, repeat for 5 rows.
~chain 2 more , dc across row, ch 1 turn
sc across row, ch 1 turn, repeat for 5 rows
repeat from ~ 4 times
work in ends

Pattern for hat:
blue preemie hat loom
loom hook
hat is simple e-wrap for 18 - 20 rows depending on
the amount of yarn you have left.
(I didn’t make any brim for this hat, just all e-wrap)
Finish as you would any hat at the top and work in ends.

FAVORITE Set

Oh I almost don't want to donate this one!! It's for a 24 week baby though, so I have to because it would only be good for dolls here...and it should go to a baby...because it's SO stinking beautiful! I used the bonnet from below and the booties that I made to match and then made a blanket...the blanket is a simply two rows of HDC then a row of SC then 2 rows of HDC, etc etc...then I put on it a light pink fringe and added rose colored ribbon...all I can say is GORGEOUS!

First Larger Blanket Set!!

I used Joshalynn to model these since she's about the size of a 29-30 weeker. Did I mention that I have two other dolls now to help me model? They need names...hmmm I will ponder that one ;)

I even have a larger teddy bear to go with these sets as I make them!! I made booties! I'm so proud! I followed a pattern! (well not for these, I followed a pattern for a different booties and them promptly altered it for these, I don't know why I do that!)

The measurements are (roughly):
blanket - 28 inches by 28 inches
hat - 16 in circ and 5 1/2 in tall
booties - 4 1/2 in long by 2 1/2 in wide with a 6 in opening for the foot.

A Blanket For Kaitlin

I think I made this blog after hearing about Tracy's blanket that she donated, so I forgot about it up until now :) Tracy, a friend of mine, made a blanket for Kaitlin and after she passed away chose to donate it. I wanted to make sure it was added here :) It was a gorgeous blanket that i'm sure some baby is thoroughly enjoying!

Thank you Tracy!

Blankets & Sweaters

I added a sweater to the first two of the sets you see below.
I also have in the box to go a larger blanket (a little under double) and a hat of the variegated blue (first set's color).

I've been working on sweaters. And I'm sorry the pattern is slowly coming. I have trouble writing up for others to understand, lol. But I also have ready to go the following three sweater/hat sets.
This guy is the smallest with a torso circ around 6 in.

Second in size the torso here is around 7in

My biggest for this batch: 9in torso

This picture shows you largest to smallest.

I'm also working on dresses, which I have gotten close, but I'm just not happy with them yet. And I've made a blanket in the mean time for me to keep :) Plus there are memory boxes just waiting for their pictures to be taken before I can sent them off too.
So I've been busy just haven't posted in awhile.

Another Batch of Blankets

This one has on it a heavenly handful from Ashton Drake. These little guys are about 4 inches long, so it helps show the size of these blankets. This is a baby about 14ish weeks along.

This one is supposed to be blue, but the camera doesn't show it well.

Have I mentioned how much I LOVE this variegated yarn? It has to be one of my favs since it's green and purple together!! Hello!! Those are my baby colors :)

Knitting for other Angels

I also took up knifty knitting :) With my new found knitting skills I have made little hats, blankets and booties to give those who loose their babies for whatever reason something to hold on to. I still have the burial gown, hat and blanket that was given to Kaitlin. Its the only outfit that i have that fit her and it was the only bit of clothing that touched her skin. So it sits tucked away. I want to give others something like that to hang on. Since I know others who have walked away from the hospital with almost nothing. It's hard enough to deal with the loss of child but to have nothing to hold is worse. Here is the first one I ever made...i'm still learning.

This one I love, since it's just so delicate looking.

I've also included with each of the sets little bears.
They will be a perfect fit for their tiny hands.

I used chunky yarn for this one. I won't use it again.
But i'm still learning and I believe that ANY thing is better than walking away with nothing.

This is my favorite one to date.
I want to make a larger one for a future baby girl.
I just need remember what dollar store I got the purple from now ;)
